FUTURE PROJECT:

PI Casebook: Hawaii

PI Casebook: Honolulu is a planned collection of stories from current and retired private investigators across the islands. John Tsukayama will interview practitioners about their most memorable cases, their paths into the profession, and the experiences they found most satisfying. The book will also explore parts of the job that the public seldom sees: the patient work behind a breakthrough, the judgments required when information is incomplete, and the practical and ethical challenges of investigating other people’s lives.

Drawing on his own twenty-two-year career as a specialist private investigator, John will bring an experienced colleague’s perspective to these conversations. The aim is to present revealing cases alongside the people who worked them, offering readers a fuller understanding of the profession and its place in Hawaiʻi. PI Casebook: Hawaii may also become the first book in a series of city-based collections from across the United States and around the world, exploring how investigators’ experiences reflect the communities in which they work.
